mountain lion progress - eye detailing

Since my last post I've been concentrating on the eyes of this handsome mountain lion. This cat has such mesmerising eyes, really striking glowing yellow/green/peach/turq/blue tones. The vision of the mountain lion is one of the animal's most important adaptations for hunting. The animal's eyes are quite large, and the retina contains more rods than cones, lending to the cat's excellent night vision.

They are more or less done but may alter slightly once connected with the whole face, and colours have been balanced.

A special 'Happy Fathers Day' to all, but especially my Dad! :) Jules

The eyes is just one of the last features, that i paint in these complexe animals; and also i attempt to integrate in his own environment.Salutations Julia!.

Thankyou Andrew :)

Thankyou Marc, I always start with the eyes, my style has evolved to include natural surroundings whether it be portrayed through the use of colour or abstract shapes, Jules

I, as well start with the eyes...if the eyes aren't correct from the beginning, I find that it loses the likeness of the person...this portrait of the mountain lion is absolutely gorgeous already and I look forward to your next post, Julia.
