' PANDA PERCH ' red panda watercolour painting original 16" x 12" |
I apologise for the poor photo at present. This is my latest completed piece after being on show at Marwell over the bank holiday weekend. Red panda's have compact faces and the borders around the ears are primarily white, reddish and light brown markings over the eyes, and a furry tail with reddish and light brown rings - these features make them appear similar to raccoons and the bright red colour is similar to some foxes. Though there are some similarities between Giant Pandas and Red Pandas in behaviour, evidence concludes that Red Pandas are a member of the Raccoon family, and not the bear family - something I didn't know!
Unfortunately this particular picture doesn't show the amazing tail however I really wanted to show off the underbelly of the red panda as most people would associate the red of the coat but I always like to show the viewer parts that you can't always see or cannot get close to. I found that the slight texture within the paper this time round actually really helped with the fuzzy fur. I hope you enjoy the finished piece as much as I did creating it!
Thankyou Arjan for your wonderful photo reference :)
