|' ABOVE AND BEYOND ' lemur watercolour painting|
original 10" x 8"
Here it is all completed! I'm so excited to get this one completed as at times I was so unsure which way I was going, but I'm over the moon with the result - all the hard work paid off :)
I lightened the background somewhat as I was fearful of it overpowering the little lemurs but wanted to use these backing colours to represent the funny naughty personalities this social animal has. After recently watching the David Attenborough 'Madagascar' series I was totally enthralled with all types of lemurs. The island itself is so unique and how all the living creatures there survive and evolve is incredible - I urge you all to watch this series if you can.
So since my last post I painted the edging of the fur to connect with the background, deciding to also add a couple of 'leafy parts' just to hint at surrounding trees. This 'piggy-backing' you see here it not unusual for all primates to do when they have young - sometimes a couple hanging off at one time! I hope my painting brings a smile to your face as I tried to capture the life, fun and laughter of these beautiful little animals. The title chosen symbolises hope for their delicate future.
A huge thankyou to Wendy Salisbury for her kind permission to use her photo :)
